Pastor Joe Williams grew
up in Memphis, Tennessee
and attended a Methodist
church for most of his childhood.  However, he did not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ until he responded to the gospel at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in 1978.
While unsaved, Joe had given rides to an ex-convict to Calvary Chapel to help fulfill his roommate’s brother’s requirement from the parole officer.

While there, Joe heard about the saving grace of Jesus Christ, but didn’t respond to the gospel until a few years later, where he and his future wife, Irene, received Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.

Joe grew in his personal relationship with Christ and after attending Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, attended Raul Ries’ church, Calvary Chapel of West Covina.  There Joe served in street witnessing and evangelism, ministering music in the children’s ministry, and led worship at a home fellowship for a number of years.

After marrying and moving from California to Tacoma, Washington, Joe helped to start the ministry of Calvary Chapel of Tacoma, where he served as the Assistant Pastor and Worship Leader for five years.  In 1986, Joe became the Senior Pastor and continues to serve in that capacity.

His greatest desire is to teach the Word of God and to see others grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Joe has been married for 28 years and has five children and five grandchildren.  He resides in Tacoma and continues to preach the Word of God.
